What Should I do With My Car or Truck That Has a Broken Engine or Transmission?

If your car has a broken engine or transmission, it may be more cost-effective to replace the car instead of repairing it, especially if it is an older car. Here are a few options to consider:

1.    Sell your car and truck as a junk vehicle: to a junk yard, salvage yard, or tow companies that will buy junk cars and tow them to a salvage yard .  The salvage value of a car is depending on the year and the model of vehicle. Normally the scrap price value is between 100 to 750$ for each vehicle.

2.    Sell the car for parts: to a privet party is not a good idea. Since, you have to tell buyer your personal location which is your private resident. You expose your private resident to a stranger that could be a safety concern.

3.    Repair the car: If the car is relatively new and in otherwise good condition and has low milage, it may be worth repairing the engine or transmission. However, this can be a costly process and may not be worth the investment if the car is not in great condition overall.

4.    Donate the car:  you may be able to donate it to a charity that accepts cars. This can be a good way to get rid of the car and potentially get a tax deduction. You may consider to sell the car to an auto wrecker for cash and keep some for yourself and give the rest to your favorite charity.

5.    Trade-in the car: If you are looking to buy a new car, you may be thinking to trade in your old car with a broken engine or transmission to the dealership. However, this is not a good idea. since you will not get any real value for your trade and ending up buy a car from the same dealer. Because you don’t have option to look around for a better deal somewhere else.
